Professional Eye Care For Your Care Home

Homehealth Opticians understands the needs of older people living in care homes are different from those living independently.

We aim to ensure that our sight tests and check ups are carried out respectfully; ensuring the well-being and dignity of residents is maintained. Our staff are checked by the Criminal Records Bureau and are specifically employed for their empathy with the elderly and those with disabilities, ensuring a polite and professional service is provided.

The individual eye examinations are carried out within the care home using the latest in portable optometric equipment, providing a familiar and comfortable experience, reducing the stress and anxiety sometimes faced by the elderly (especially those suffering from dementia).

Regular checks of eye care in the elderly can make a significant difference, reducing the incidence of falls. Research has found that the risk of falls can be reduced by 14% through the treatment of visual impairments and eyesight problems. Furthermore 60% of elderly care home residents will fall at least once a year, (half of them repeatedly) highlighting the importance of eye care in the elderly.

What Makes Us Different?

Homehealth Opticians trains staff working at care homes, giving information on common eye diseases faced by the elderly including cataracts, glaucoma and age related macular degeneration, ensuring staff are aware of the signs, symptoms and complications faced by their residents.

We understand the importance of having a reliable service for your home, providing individual eye tests and eye health services as new residents are admitted. In order to assist you, we will provide a folder to keep all the information and care plans for your residents in one place helping you to meet the CQC requirements.
